UT Vols & I have a $100 bet. He said Illinois would win 6 games and go to a bowl game. To which I told him he was bat $hit crazy. Well, after less than stellar performances by Nebraska, Minnesota & Purdue, I think I may be in trouble. With Nebraska & Rutgers being home games, well ....... :?: :?: :?: :?:
It is Illinois, but my expectation is 6 wins and a bowl game. So you might be out $100.

Is Illinois finally turning the corner or is that the other teams are really bad?

The only way 6 wins happens is with at least a 4-1 start to the season. Not impossible, but it's up to them to show it.

That sounds about right. They're really got to stay away from injuries, like the one to Mike Epstein.

Connecticut on the road will be the key game. It’s not the opponent as much as it is a road game. Have tickets for Nebraska so am hoping that they are 3-0 and get a good crowd.

It was only 8 years ago (2011) that Illinois started 6-0 then promptly coughed up the rest of the regular season--their only remaining win coming in that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Bowl (or whatever it was called) to finish 7-6. The disastrous finish cost coach Zook his job.

IIRC, that was the Texas bowl when they beat up on RG3's Baylor team.

Illinois is more then likely a year away, coach is getting top notch recruits but it takes 5 years in football to turn things around in the right direction. He took over a program that was just horrible with little talent, the A.D. understood that and is being patient with him and giving him the right amount of time to get this done.

Wrong year. Texas Bowl was 2010.
Kraft Bowl was 2011 vs UCLA.

All things considered, they responded well to the loss and looked pretty good for most of the game against Nebraska. Considering the opposite was true against EMU, it will be interesting to see how they do against Minnesota and Purdue over the next month. Just need to win those, and see continued improvement, so that you feel you might be able to steal one of the last 3.

GBG, you should feel extremely safe.
And Lovie should be former coach at conclusion of season ... except for multiple $MM buyout.

I might be a Notre Dame Irish fan, but, as far as I'm concerned this week there's only one team in Indiana I give two hoots about. Boiler Up!!!!!!!
Boilers have won 3 straight in the series by an average of 20 points, and their team this year has been competitive in every league game except Penn State.

If the Illini miss a bowl by a game, you should spend your loot on an EMU Eagles jersey.
