ESPN book “Inside the world of ESPN, Where the guys have all the fun. Book is 700 plus pages. A hint, one of the biggest abusers, Mike Torico.
Well it's a good thing he doesn't work for the network anymore then.

Didn't realize the NBA uses slave labor.

And to say he has slam dunked them is a bit of a stretch. All he has done is introduce a bill. Doesn't mean it will pass.

While Black Lives Matter to the NBA, Chinese lives not so much. This explains the fawning response to China last year. On top of this, the NBA lied to Congress about this program claiming it ended much sooner than it did.

And Morey was the one uninformed...

The NBA cares deeply about human rights that:
According to ESPN, NBA officials asked current and former employees not to speak to the sports network about the exposé, with one email from a public relations official reading, "Please don't mention that you have been advised by the NBA not to respond."
I say it again, NBA is 100% virtue signalling about BLM and cares little about actual human rights. Prove me wrong...

Also notice, no Woj "woke bombs" on this topic. He knows where his bread is buttered.

FreeHongKong jerseys were "inadvertently" banned too. It isn't like the NBA would lie or tell their employees to lie when asked... Oops

No wonder Woj got so angry when anyone questioned his golden goose. He isn't a reporter, he is part of the NBAs PR department.

It’s amazing how many people wanted “FreeHongKong” on a basketball jersey all of a sudden.

As soon as the NBA bowed to the Chinese and then took such a strong human rights stand including custom jerseys, yeah. Of course, the NBA is full of crap about actually caring about human ritghts. Their employees shouldn't tell anyone that, and definitely shouldn't tell anyone they have been told not to talk about it.

I wonder if the people that are so upset about all this would be willing to get rid of anything they own that says Made in China on it?

If no one wanted them, why ban them? Note, you could order jerseys that advocated for killing Jewish people, policemen, etc. so it was a specific algorithm put in place to ban a rather innocent phrase to please the Chinese. They then removed the ability to order any custom jerseys.

If they claimed to care as much about human rights as the virtue signalling NBA, they should avoid buying Chinese goods. Unless of course they are hypocrites like the NBA, then they would claim to care about human rights while doing everything they could to please the Chinese government.

You know my point. People only did that stuff to troll. I’m not commenting on the whole issue - just people acting like they have wanted that phrase on a jersey.

Just a couple weak attempts at distraction.

People who are wrong can only respond with stuff like “sources”
“trolling”

I answered this straw man on page one. Let's make the actual issue simple with a brief timeline.

Until June 2019 maybe or maybe it is still ongoing - The NBA was directly involved with the Chinese government operating a basketball sweatshop in China using underage players. Players who were physically abused and denyed basic education. It isn't clear today what the status of this program currently is.

October 2019 - Morey tweets support for Hong Kong protests for human rights. Chinese government gets mad and threatens NBA with denying market access. Many players call Morey uninformed. Normally outspoken coaches such as Popovich and Kerr are completely silent. Silver apologizes to Chinese.

July 2020 - NBA goes all in for support of BLM as a human rights issue. Special jerseys are worn by players with preapproved slogans, courts are decorated, kneeling for the national anthem is encouraged with players who don't kneel being scrutinized. Woj "NBA insider" gets "suspended" for 2 weeks for telling a politician "F*** you" for asking if the NBA is being hypocritical on human rights.

July 2020 - ESPN article about basketball sweatshop published. Includes NBA PR department email telling coaches and staff not to talk to the media about it and not to mention they were told not to talk about it. Players who said Morey was uninformed about China are silent about the report. Popovich and Kerr still silent. Woj is silent too, seems like an NBA insider member of the organization who published the article might have known about the sweatshop maybe?

Nope, still no hypocrisy by the NBA on human rights support? I guess organizations directly involved with the operation of a sweatshop can't be hypocritical.

I can tell you that Meyers is a very thoughtful person.
Glad that Iguodala appears to be as well. He makes the point of seeing things from multiple perspectives that some have been saying is not happening.

Is there some bias by the journalist/editor here?

Joe Biden might have some insight as he seems to know the Black community and its diversity of thought. :)
