The players responded. The manager responded. The front office receded.

Cardinals activate Yadi from the IL and call up Arozarena. Jose Martinez to the IL and Knizner sent down.

Cardinals may be catching a bit of a break when it comes to the Brewers pitching staff heading into the series that starts tomorrow night at Busch. After playing in a game last night that went 14 innings, Milwaukee is getting absolutely crushed by the Nationals 13-4 in the 5th right now.

Goldschmidt last 30 games have been in line with career averages which is great although July was better than August. He should finish around 35 HR and 90 RBI assuming he doesn't go into another June type funk.

The Cardinals Cubs and Brewers all play each other several more times the last month of the season. The second half of Sept looks tough for the Cardinals, so hopefully they can roll through the next 4-5 series. As a fan, playing meaningful games in September is all I really want. Im not into college football and I cant get into NFL until baseball is over.
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

Well that's a first. A rain delay in Milwaukee.

The Cards were rained out tonight. They now play back to back double headers the next two days.

Back to back double headers shouldn't be allowed. This could wreck the Cardinals pitching rotation schedule and in a tight playoff race make the difference in the division.

Can't really do much about it though. It's the Reds' last trip to St. Louis this season and even though the teams do have one common off day left, if they rescheduled the game to that day, the Cardinals wouldn't have another off day until September 26th.

Looks like it'll be Hudson and Wacha for the Cardinals in the doubleheader on Saturday. Mikolas and Ponce de Leon in the doubleheader on Sunday.

In addition, Lane Thomas has a fractured wrist and is expected to miss the rest of the season as he has been placed on the IL. Tyler O'Neill was recalled to take Thomas' spot on the roster.

I'm actually going to the afternoon game tomorrow. Of course instead of a 1:15 first pitch, I'll now be going to a game that's gonna have a 12:05 start.

Because of what happened to Hicks earlier due to overuse and Martinez well documented arm issues, I was surprised that Cards used Martinez in 4 consecutive games.

Pitch Count
Sat. (10-6) 3 days rest 7 pitches
Sun. (4-3) 13 pitches
Mon. (3-1) 17 pitches
Tues. (1-0) 10 pitches

Who is an alternative? Right now, who can be trusted with a 1 or 2-run lead in the 9th?

A lot of guys. It’s a pretty good bullpen.
