Fire Maddon!

Just wanted to get it out there first!

I predict that we will see a little different Joe this year. He is a lane duck manager and knows that players need to perform this year. Perhaps not as easy going as in past.

Cubs announced today a partnership with Sinclair Broadcast Group that will lead to the formation of a new regional TV network called Marquee Sports Network. The network will officially launch in February 2020 and will broadcast every Cubs game not televised nationally by FOX, ESPN, TBS, and MLB Network.

With Milwaukee the overwhelming favorite this year, the Cubs need to be at least in conversation for Craig Kimbell. We cannot Ill afford a bullpen by committee to start the regular season.

In a surprise move the Cubs send Ian Happ down to Triple-A.

Happ needed to be sent down. I thought that last year. His strikeout rate needs to get corrected.

Javy sure pressed at that AB, swinging at 2 bad pitches. Wanted that third HR.

The Darvish experiment is a failure. He needs to go to Iowa and get his head straight with his control.

I agree about Darvish, however I just cannot believe that we really didn’t address the bullpen off season, and we don’t have a closer to start the season. Once again, I have no faith in Edwards and after his press conference it doubled. I know it’s early but Milwaukee on the road next week is crucial to a good start. Whether Milwaukee is the favorite one can debate, but up and down their lineup is power and they will score a lot of runs. And they have Hader while we have nothing to match him.

We have squandered some excellent scoring opportunities. Hope it didn’t bite us!

I don't want 3 games to sum up an entire seasons forecast. But the bullpen was well-known problem #1 in the off-season. Was it addressed? :bang

It’s 3 games. Played in a band box that is pretty much the toughest place to pitch not named Coors Field. Personally I think Dylan Maples should have made the team out of Spring. The umpire didn’t do Hamels any favors today either. If it’s still this bad by Memorial Day or so I might start hitting the panic button. But it’s 3 games. Need to relax a bit.

If the off season should have taught Cubs' fans anything, the pitching problems and lack of bullpen are Maddon's fault. It is all Maddon's fault. :)

Things were a lot better when we didn't need a separate thread for every season. Way to @@@@@ it up, whoever you were 2 seasons ago.

Heard today that MLB is deeming CJ’s new pitching motion illegal. Any thoughts? IMO it resembles Kershaws.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers sign Z Mac to a minor league deal.

Good thanks for sharing. Hope he can make his way back. I tuned in to the game last night right when espn was showing a highlight of Cub fielding miscues from the game. It was actually comical. The Rizzo flip was bizarre. I think at that time they had 6 errors.
Thanks J.J. for what I consider sound advice!

It was definitely comical. First time every IF position player had an error in a regular season game for the team since 1977. The Cubbies also managed to do it in a 2008 playoff game. :x

Looks the same to me. He still gives up runs and hits and can't handle pressure. Why is he still on the team?
