Not related to recruiting, but Wharton Fieldhouse in Moline might be one of the coolest high school gyms I’ve ever been in.tribecalledquest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 11:53 pm The Moline High School team and 2023 recruit Brock Harding were at the game tonight.

Yeah, it's a great place! I went to a few QC Thunder games when I was a kid, and it's so awesome. It even hosted the NBA's Hawks for a short time when Red Auerbach coached them. Their short 5 year saga as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks is one of the great untold stories in basketball history. They were initially successful after the merger that formed what is now the NBA, Auerbach was their coach. The Blackhawks drafted Bob Cousy, but he had never left the northeast and had no intention to, at least not for a place he'd never heard of. After the impasse of him not signing, eventually the team sold his rights to Chicago. Chicago eventually folded, and the Celtics eventually acquired the rights to Cousy. The same offseason Auerbach had resigned due to disagreements with Hawks owner Ben Kerner. The two franchises (the Hawks by then were in St. Louis after a short time in Milwaukee) traded titles at the beginning of the Celtics dynasty a few years later, and Auerbach punched Kerner just prior to one of the Finals series games.pndbaseball12 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:50 amNot related to recruiting, but Wharton Fieldhouse in Moline might be one of the coolest high school gyms I’ve ever been in.tribecalledquest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 11:53 pm The Moline High School team and 2023 recruit Brock Harding were at the game tonight.

What’s that Kizer kid in Metamora doing this season?

Doing real well. He's one of several threats Metamora has, but he has emerged as the main threat. He was the PJStar athlete of the week at least once (in December), and had another story on Metamora in December

Do we feel like we are in a good position with him or is that hard to say until we get through summer and AAU?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 2:26 pmHe's probably the best player in the Mid-Illini Conference.

Pure speculation on my part, but I would guess he'd like to see what happens this summer. According to verbal commits, he only has offers from Bradley and ISU.dss03 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:04 pmDo we feel like we are in a good position with him or is that hard to say until we get through summer and AAU?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 2:26 pmHe's probably the best player in the Mid-Illini Conference.

Interested in hearing more about why you're saying this. I hadn't heard anything one way or another. I do know he has attended a number of Bradley games with his HS team this year. Is it just the assumption he is going to a higher level?BradleyMathGrad wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 1:35 pmHe's not going to go to Bradley.dss03 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:04 pmDo we feel like we are in a good position with him or is that hard to say until we get through summer and AAU?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 2:26 pm

Let's just say that I've heard that is definitively not the assumption. There's a reason he still only has a handful of offers.squirrel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 1:38 pmInterested in hearing more about why you're saying this. I hadn't heard anything one way or another. Kizer hit what ended up being the game winning shot to put Metamora in the state championship game. His 3 point shot put the Redbirds up 48-47 against Simeon and Metamora went on to win 50-47. Metamora ended the game on an 11-0 run, trailing 47-39 before going on the run. He finished with 9 points in the winning effort.

For a guy his size and being guarded much of the game by a kid at least a half a foot plus shorter, was not impressed. Bradley could do much better.squirrel wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 1:39 pm Kizer hit what ended up being the game winning shot to put Metamora in the state championship game. Has been mentioned before he won’t be coming to Bradley. Can’t remember the reason though.SaintLouBrave22 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 5:18 pmFor a guy his size and being guarded much of the game by a kid at least a half a foot plus shorter, was not impressed. Now, for players who are - Brock Harding was a First-Team All-State selection. He's a guy I would love to see Bradley get.

While that is likely true...To be fair: state tournament performance is not a meaningful barometer.

I’m not saying that because of one game.
