UIC appears to have their next head coach as well:

Yaklich just completed his first season as the associate head coach at Texas. Prior to his time at Michigan, he was an assistant for 4 years under Dan Muller at ISU (which Yaklich attended but did not play for the Redbirds in the mid-90s). After college, he spent 14 years as a teacher and coach at Joliet Township High School, with his last 6 years there as the head coach of the basketball team.

Leitao has them on the verge I think. As bad as DePaul has been, it would be ridiculously dumb to fire him now. He loses only one senior that played (Coleman-Lands) and yes, while the team finished last in the BE, he lost they were competitive most nights. He'll have 3 key seniors and was always going to have the opportunity to win with them. He lost key frosh Markese Jacobs to nagging injury late in the season. Also, he's sitting on a commitment from Ahamad Bynum, Will's son at Simeon (and he's still another year away from his frosh year.)

The 3-year deal was to ensure Bynum doesn't re-open his recruitment.

Devin Gage walks, but that could be addition by subtraction, honestly.
What's the bigger surprise? Leitao sticking at DePaul or Christian sticking at Boston College?

I think it has more to do with all of the instability in the country, and sports specifically. It's a horrible time to be making a change right now if you can at all possibly avoid it.

Agreed. I would have even temporarily gotten off the Fire Geno train in his last year given the circumstances.

That might be a stretch. His time here was horrendous.

Just for the record, Coach Yaklich was not at Joliet Twp for 14 years. He was the head girls coach at Lasalle-Peru in 1999-2000, head boys coach at Sterling from 2000-2003, head boys coach at Lasalle-Peru from 2003-2007, and then head boys coach at Joliet Central/Joliet West from 2008-2013.

Ah. My mistake. The way it was worded on Yaklich's bio on the Texas' men's basketball website, shown below, made it seem as such:
Prior to his time at Illinois State, Yaklich worked as a high school head coach and teacher for 14 years, primarily teaching U.S. history at the high school level. He was head boys’ basketball coach at Joliet Township High School (Joliet, Ill.) for six seasons, three in the combined Joliet Township program and three at Joliet West), while also coaching the Joliet Pride and Illinois Wolves AAU teams.
I did notice further down in the bio that it does mention the other coaching stops you mentioned. Just really weird the way they worded it.

Sounds a little more impressive the way they worded it though, doesn't it?

Yeah. They just worded it a completely backwards way.

Christian @ BC. I never really felt Leitao was in danger. Everything is relative.

Just wait until JLP hears that Leitao won the state of Illinois sim tournament. He might get a lifetime deal.

Tarleton State coach Chris Reisman has moved into administration at the school, and stepping down as men's head coach.

Tarleton will be a first-year reclassifying member to DI next year, competing in the WAC, along with fellow reclassifying newbie Dixie State.

Tarleton will win in that league sooner rather than later.

I'd put money on Dixie St. Beautiful arena. St George is the fastest growing metro area in the country. Tarleton's stuck with EIU/WIU-syndrome in Texas with its town/location.

This is where I think the WAC has done reasonably well. . .

New Mexico St is solid. Grand Canyon is too.

Cal Baptist has immediately been an impact, with 2 winning seasons and 37 wins in their first 2 years of DI (21-10 this year).

Tarleton and Dixie should continue to solidify the league.

Pan Am's rebrand to Rio Grande Valley has had an immediate significant positive impact on the school.

They've solidified a southwest footprint, and northwestern sun belt, which are fast-growing regions of the country.

Who would have thought this would have been said about the WAC, even within the past few years?

And Northern Arizona has removed the interim tag from their head coach:

Burcar actually did pretty decently in his first year in Flagstaff with the team finishing in the middle of the pack in the Big Sky.

Rob Jeter is a coup for the Leathernecks.

Won 19+ games 6/11 seasons at UWM. Fired by tyrannical AD after 20-win season. School’s won 11, 16, 9, & 12 since.

Firing was so controversial, it sparked 130 pages of emails and meltdowns.

I remember the controversy when Jeter got fired. I believe that he was in the Bradley mix when we hired Geno perhaps? Good move, hopefully he can recruit in forgottonia. I see that his replacement at UWM, Patrick Baldwin is 38-57 in 3 seasons. How did that move work out? And she is still there!

Yes, he supposedly withdrew his name from consideration for the Bradley job (read: he was about to be eliminated as a candidate) -- https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/b ... adley.html
