Not scary for MVC teams on paper at least. A PG from Arizona to SIU? Seems odd.

Scored 2,397 points in his high school career and averaged 27.4 PPG and 11.1 RPG this season. Said his decision was between ISU or Lake Land.

Not when the head coach has been involved with recruiting for a Final Four program.

They didn’t exactly beat out a who’s who of West Coast teams for him.

You know my feelings about high school kids going to mid major programs 5-6 states away.

Saw where Danville shooting guard Houpt offered a PWO at BU? Would be the shooter we need. Coaches son.

Yup. I hope he accepts. Houpt and a couple of transfers will make for one h-ll of a spring.

Former Northwestern center Barrett Benson committed to SIU today. He was somewhat highly touted out of high school but never did much at NW. He averaged 2.2 points and 3.0 rebounds a game last year playing 9.4 minutes a night. He scored 194 career points in Evanston.

SIU got a commitment from Harwin Francois of Daytona State JUCO. He will have three years at SIU. He put up really impressive shooting numbers, making over 47% of his three point shots.

Loyola got a good transfer in freshman PG Braden Norris from Oakland. He will sit one year and have three to play.

He averaged 8.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg and 5.2 apg. Horizon League All Freshman team. He led the league in A/TO ratio and was in the top 25 in the country in that category. He shot 48.6% from three on the year (67 for 138).

The list has been updated with a couple additions for SIU.

They got a good JUCO shooter from Daytona State, Harlon Francois and then added EIU transfer Ben Harvey. He averaged 10 a game for the Panthers last year and will sit one and play three.

I just updated the list with the JUCO guard Loyola got, Indiana State's commitment and Missouri State just got another good grad transfer. Dana Ford is not messing around.

The Bears got 6-3 Anthony Masinton-Bonner from Colorado State. He averaged 11.2 ppg last year and shot the ball well. 51% overall and 41% from three.
Nice MMM article on two of the Valley's hottest coaches, Ford and Devries, and the possibility of both moving up.

He was actually the third leading scorer for the Panthers last season. And he's not the only one leaving Charleston either. Cam Burrell, who played about 17 minutes/game but did not have eye popping numbers, announced last week he's transferring out. Burrell has reportedly heard from D-I, D-II, and even JUCO schools.

Burrell and the Brummett’s would be a perfect fit for a GLVC team.

I recall quite a contingent from Chicago imploring Bradley to take a look at Burrell...I am pretty glad we didnt given what we have ended up with.

I am just not sure how he would get on the floor now.

Also, maybe I am the only one, but I am not getting what SIU is doing. Maybe Mullins is just a better diamond in the rough talent evaluator, but I think they are taking some real gambles here and it could be awhile to build there.

Harvey was obviously under-recruited out of HS. . .bummer EIU lost him.

Found an article from the Mattoon/Charleston newspaper from last summer that said Harvey also had offers from North Texas, UT Arlington, Stephen F. Austin, and UW-Milwaukee among others. As far as Burrell, he was quoted in that same paper today that he's looking for a program that is a "better fit" for his abilities as he wants to play in a program that plays more of a fast-paced game and runs up and down the floor a lot.

Here is an interesting column from that same paper a couple of days ago where the columnist brings up the question of whether a low major like EIU should go after recruits straight out of high school who may end up transferring out after a year or go more the JUCO and transfer route: https://jg-tc.com/sports/column-eastern ... 6e4a2.html

Illinois State filled one if its remaining four scholarships with the commitment of Harouna Sissoko from Grand View Christian in Iowa (originally from Mali). Known as a raw but super athletic 6-7 wing. The Mali to Grand View Christian pipeline is strong as Drake commit Issa Samake is also from Mali and Sissoko's teammate at Grand View.

They’ve definitely upgraded their coaching staff this off-season with Belcher and Jones - not having Duhon is an upgrade without adding anyone. Their talent level has taken quite a plunge though. 3 scholarships left in mid May isn’t a good thing.

That is true. Once they get the 4-26 San Jose State All Stars eligible along with Shaquille Ndiaye, they should really dominate.
