Who from the area will be tough this year? Both team and individuals. I know washington will be a force at AA. How about some of the smaller schools?

Washington is really really good, and no one in conference will come close to beating them. That being said, I wonder what Coach Medlin could do if he was actually was coaching all kids from Washington and not 6-8 transfers.

I only know of the 1 transfer from TN who is related to Randy Mennewether but I think he has proved himself as a very good coach. If there are kids transferring in just for wrestling then I guess there must be a reason they want him as coach. I did see Medlin and Miller were voted by the Illinois Coaches and Officials Association as Head and Assistant Wrestling Coaches of the year.

Did you forget that Dylan Reel transferred to WCHS his freshmen year from some other school - I think it was either Central, Washington Middle or D-50.

From El Paso-Gridley. EPG didn't have junior high wrestling at that time. Reel wrestled for the Central Illinois Elite Team, where he won the IKWF State title as an eighth grader.

There is little to no doubt that Coach Medlin is an excellent coach. There is also no doubt that there are several kids who moved in from other out of district junior high programs and would probably not be considered "home grown" kids. There is nothing wrong with that. People have a right to send their kids to whatever district they choose to move to. Personally, I wouldn't move 1/4 mile to send my kids to a "better" sports school. It's not that important to me. I have multiple members of the family to consider and the cost is not worth it to me. To each his own. Success breeds success. People will move wherever they feel they have the best opportunity sportswise or otherwise. Good luck to them this year.

Pekin split with Washington and East Peoria last Friday - Dragons lost 57-18 to Washington and beat East Peoria 42-25 or something like that. Dragons did well at weekend tourney up north at Plainfield beating Normal, Normal West and East Moline. They lost to a strong Moline team. Dragons now 6-2. Washington is really good again this year and is by far the top team in the area and could vie for 2A title.....anybody have any other MI match scores?

Panthers beat Canton last night something like 58-9.
I don't recall the score of the Washington vs Limestone dual. It was a bout the same.

The article this week mentioned 4 are out injured, does that mean Washington is missing 6 starters with 2 more out for code violations?
