For the civil discussion of high school softball

A year ago Morton High School opened a new facilty in Birchwood Park, which is controlled by the Park District. Apparently the two entities forgot to talk about when restroom facilities open for the season, because as of yet, they remain closed. Too cold yet, I am told. This after consecutive days in the 70’s. After complaints from parents and fans, a porta potty was hauled in, and placed right next to the dumpster to resolve the issue. This comes after one parent complained that they had a handicapped person at the game and there were no facilities. The person was told that they would have to go to the Park District Office, more than a block away. A lot can be said about having your own facilities, where you won’t be held hostage by the town’s Park Board. Oh yeah, heard that the school gets to pay for the rented potty!! So you can get fined in Morton if you let your puppy dog use your neighbors yard to do his duty, but it is probably ok to use a tree in the park, if the line is too long at the blue house next to the dumpster.

Looks like school board has finally authorized funds to fix the issues related to this new faculty. Whoever designed this facility must not have been in tune with IHSA regulations as to field size or a fan as line seating, as well as dugout location related to bleacher seating, which is pretty dismal for spectators. I applaud everyone who invested time and money to get this project to move forward.
