Not that anyone needs a reason, but is this a general hatred or did something else get canceled?

Any last minute teams looking for a tournament?

Need a team not already scheduled AND currently is four or more games under the IHSA max. IHSA changed max games format a few years ago so it’s a bit tougher now.

Re: Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament #56 (2021)
Extremely tough, unless a tourney got shut down due to covid. Would #1 seed get a bye if no team can be found?

Forreston tournament (small schools) cancelled but dates don’t match up.
Don’t want to say anything yet with regards to byes, bracket, etc.

Where do you think Morton ranks 1 to16?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:35 pmIf you're inviting me to join the seeding committee for future years, I'm in.
My thought was simply that IF you beat Richwoods you get the #1 seed in the second round.

I'm biased, but in that field, 6th, maybe 7th.illini25 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:44 pmWhere do you think Morton ranks 1 to16?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:35 pmIf you're inviting me to join the seeding committee for future years, I'm in.

If that makes you biased, then I guess I am too as I agree with you. Of course I have a kid who was a 4-year All Conference athlete for Morton so there ya go.Butler Blue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 3:03 pmI'm biased, but in that field, 6th, maybe 7th.illini25 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:44 pmWhere do you think Morton ranks 1 to16?Butler Blue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:35 pm

This year was tough to get a handle on teams. Some have played games missing guys, opponents have missed guys, and common opponents have yielded mixed bag.
Keep in mind this isn’t a 1-16 and 8-9 quad deal. Having multiple teams from same conference (2 now, was as many as 4 conferences before) and regular season match ups make a lot of juggling necessary. Morton’s 6/7 spot likeky meant Mt Carmel if not Moline and personally I’ve got those two as 1A and 1B.

Re: Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament #56 (2021)
Just for reference, Morton 7-1 with opponent winning percentage of 31%.
At time of seeding, Lanphier was 5-3 with opponent winning percentage 69%.
Normal West at 5-2 with opponent winning percentage 34% including a 5-point loss to state 4A ranked Normal Community.
Also Morton’s first opponent is 3-4 with opponent winning percentage 51%. So Morton’s first matchup is pretty much what a 6/7 should expect.
This year is tough to know if each game was full roster, etc.

And of course, after I complain about seeds/match-ups, Morton gets absolutely thumped by Metamora last night.

Metamora beat previously-unbeaten El Paso-Gridley 66-48 in the Eureka Shootout Saturday afternoon. EPG was 9-0, but their previous best opponent had been East Peoria. I don't think El Paso/EPG had played Metamora since the old Woodford County Tournament back in the 1980s.

Re: Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament #56 (2021)
Many don’t realize the scheduling difficulties of the Pekin Holiday Tournament when you have the Mid Illini and the Big 12 coaches wanting to avoid early match ups within their conferences. Team like to avoid the dreaded early morning game, but Morton is a short drive does travel well so one should see fans. The incentive to stay out of Custer Stout should be enough incentive to beat Richwoods.
go cubs go!

Definitely a challenging year for holiday tournaments.
Lots of support from Washington head coach Eric Schermerhorn. Washington is blessed and lucky to have a head coach as thoughtful and considerate as well as so knowledgeable about basketball.
