Metamora Hoops News?
Wondering how the parents are holding up in Metamora? All good now that they've won a few?
Re: Metamora Hoops News?
I believe they got a break when #1 seed ND was shipped to Macomb. I would have thought that the #1 seed would get to stay closer to home.

Parents have quite a few house payments to make on their gamble to move over there to play hoops. Some have moved multiple times school to school. Couple of them red-shirted in grade school. They do have a good coach. We will see how it all pans out

I have seen a few games and have spoken to some in community and it seems to be a non issue.washpantherbacker wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:23 am Wondering how the parents are holding up in Metamora? All good now that they've won a few?
Would you like to know anything about the teams outlook?

i would--i haven't seen them play, but clearly an up and down year. i definitely think they got the much easier road through regionals. east peoria and manual aren't easy, but would rather take my chances there than with pnd, morton, or richwoods.superfan309 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 1:19 pmI have seen a few games and have spoken to some in community and it seems to be a non issue.washpantherbacker wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:23 am Wondering how the parents are holding up in Metamora? Re: Metamora Hoops News?
Nice recruiting pipeline emerging in Metamora the last few years. Rental property might be a good investment in the GTH/ Metamora area these days! I guess transfers aren’t ensuring championship though.

Did I read a bit of whining by DG in today’s PJS? From people I talked to that were at the game, Redbirds just played bad.

The crew was very very bad except for the ref that wasn't pregnant. It went both ways. The game was way too fast for the other 2.leopardbutt wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2019 7:21 pmWhat? Metamora thinks were screwed by the officials? Say it ain't so.
I don't think Metamora made a 3 point shot. If they did it was not enough to win.

yeah, let's be honest here. i wasn't there, but c'mon, you have an area super team with two D-1 scholarship players, a frontline of 6' 6", 6' 7", 6' 8", and you can't score more than 36 points??superfan309 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:17 amThe crew was very very bad except for the ref that wasn't pregnant. Curious as to who the D1 players are and where they're going to college. I really don't know.greenhornet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:45 amyeah, let's be honest here. i wasn't there, but c'mon, you have an area super team with two D-1 scholarship players, a frontline of 6' 6", 6' 7", 6' 8", and you can't score more than 36 points??superfan309 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:17 amThe crew was very very bad except for the ref that wasn't pregnant. Not Hall's fault, but his knee is obviously still slowing him down and he made no impact other that a long body. Neither were D1 influences that night.greenhornet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:57 amsomeone correct me if i'm wrong, but dietz to stetson and hall to air force.washpantherbacker wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:56 amCurious as to who the D1 players are and where they're going to college. Re: Metamora Hoops News?
I see Dietz as more of a D3 player and not D1. I have never seen him do anything great in any game I’ve seen him play in four years.
Re: Metamora Hoops News?
I realize the injury to the big kid had a negative effect, but it's a head
scratcher as to the so-so season with so many returnees. I guess that's high school basketball. Not the 1st time it happened, nor will it be the last.

Re: Metamora Hoops News?
anybody know where to find a mid-illini basketball schedule? MTHS web site has info on last years team but nothing for this year...i dunno, maybe they dont have a team anymore? Think its time to keep the website updated
Re: Metamora Hoops News?
Does Metamora still have a basketball team? Are they planning on having any games this season? Anyone?
Re: Metamora Hoops News?

Wash fans always get bent out of shape when they do t get the transfers. Wait Sims Edwards was at Central dad coaches the girls and they moved to Washington? Guessing the apartments helped Washington that year. Manual had a young man move to Morton then to Manual one year. It always happens, recruiting is real and happens all the time.

i have no dog in this fight, but is it actual "recruiting" or just player movement? i ask because there's a difference.Youngblood wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 12:37 am It always happens, recruiting is real and happens all the time.

Good point. Big difference. The odd thing is one can sit behind a computer screen with a user name and say such things, with absolutely no proof. It's no secret there has been player movement over the years, but to accuse such schools without proof is kind of shameless. But, that's the downfall of social media. If it's written, some will grab on to it as truth. My point is if you're going to put it out there, cite your sources...not just hearsayging wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 9:07 ami have no dog in this fight, but is it actual "recruiting" or just player movement? i ask because there's a difference.Youngblood wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 12:37 am It always happens, recruiting is real and happens all the time.

Re: Metamora Hoops News?
With regard to the recruiting conversation consider this: An assistant varsity coach trains young players from other high schools in his HS gym in the off season... the same assistant varsity assistant coaches many of the same players on an AAU team for several years and practices in his HS gym on a regular basis...players and families of which relationships were established through these venues transfer to said school. It is likely that the transfers are no more than a coincidence and the coach is simply acting as an ambassador to the community. Not an uncommon occurrence. It happens all over the state and appears to be ethical and not a violation of any IHSA by-laws.
