Mid Illini 17-18
With coaching changes, transfers, turmoil. How does the league look? Washington has Brown I pick them first. Metamora with Grieves and transfers second. Coach Mathews and veteran bigs 3rd. The rest is a mosh pit.
Re: Mid Illini 17-18
Don't sleep on Morton. Juniors Barrick Olden and Jarrett Crider are tough!

Morton played very hard last year and shared the MI with Washington.
WCHS lost 3 starters to transfer, Dietz, Havens, and Motler. Not sure who will fill in for them. I see WCHS as a weaker team now however they will try to beat you down every single posession keeping most scores low.

Did Havens start last year? Didn't think he did. Where did Moettler go?superfan309 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2017 2:05 pm Morton played very hard last year and shared the MI with Washington.

Motteler is still at WCHS. Guedet is also still playing. While Washington lost two strong players, there is still talent there.
Motteler
Adrian Ware
Herseman
Guedet

Also hearing soph to be Dane Nuiekirk is doing well and will surprise some people.

I had heard Motteler was MIA and going back to Peoria. I could be way off.
That starting 5 above is really missing a glue guy compared to the last 4 years they have been afforded with LG and DW. Havens could have been that guy without the scoring.
JJ will be a beast if Brown leaves him on the court.

Where does Metamora end up this year? Now they have 2019 Dietz (6'4") and Havens (5'9") -- former Canton/Washington guys -- and 2019 Nelan 6'6"-- former Richwoods/Notre Dame guy. They graduated their high scoring guard last year? And for Canton... they are even worse off than before. Their pretty skilled 6'3" senior guard moved out of state again (I think back to Tennessee) and rumor has it that their senior 6'6" big isn't playing for some reason.

Washington in a run away. You won’t recognize the team this year. That’s somewhat from a roster standpoint but also from an attitude and perspective viewpoint. I’m predicting a much more cohesive unit this year.

Interested to see how Morton and more specifically barik olden progresses this year. I know he didn't play soccer this year and is really focusing on his game. Heard from multiple people around the program that he has made a jump up to the next level and even has some big ten interest

Yes, Olden decided to not play soccer and focus on his bball game. It will be very interesting how the coaching change at Morton will play out.
As for Washington, the cupboard has been restocked. They are the team to beat again.

Found it. 51-45 Morton. Any idea if there are any football players on the basketball team?

Someone at BU game joked this recruiting class was better than last year.

Where's Hersemann for Washington. Pushed a side by new recruits? If so, it's too bad -- a quality real Washington player.

Re: Mid Illini 17-18
Olden is a skilled Illinois 3A level player. HM D1 interest.. particularly in the Big 10... is doubtful at this point. What AAU team did he play with over this past spring and summer? He hasn't appeared on the radar of any of the noteworthy scouting services out there.bigdaddystuck wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 10:49 am Yes, Olden decided to not play soccer and focus on his bball game. It wasn’t the new players. From what I heard it’s his own fault.Avidhoops5 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2017 11:28 am Where's Hersemann for Washington. Pushed a side by new recruits? If so, it's too bad -- a quality real Washington player.

Mid Illini teams start regular play this week. After the various Thnkgiving tourneys any thoughts on who has potential?

Believe that program to be Iowa to be exact, has ability to play guard position and shoot but has a lot of height in the family. Could be one of those guys tat you look up and senior year he's 6'8 and the real deal. I assume that is where the upside comes in
