As I have stated.. Pat Ryan is to young to totally retire.
Pat is a gift.
The Illinois Program will tremendously benefit from having Coach Ryan help out.
Metamora Football will never be the same without Pat.

I will admit my first reaction to seeing this was, "Wow, how odd!" Not that Coach Ryan was hired for it, but I mean the position itself. Do most D1 programs have this type of position or did Bielema see that relations were so frayed he felt the need for it?

This was a big fault of the Lovie era. He didn’t have anyone inside on Illinois High School Football. Thought he didn’t need it.

i agree Leonard is a great coach, the best Ive seen in the many games I have watched Rochester. Ive said that repeatedly over the years. He makes the most of every single down, both offense and defense. No high school coach compares to him on the X's and O's of game situations.

Ive also said He is the most arrogant coach in the state. Other than being a good game coach, he will never match Pat Ryan on the more important values outside coaching.

Every university has a director of high school relations. Illinois hired Hawthorne to serve that overall role. I am not sure if schools have additional people tasked with this role on a per state basis, but it probably isn't unheard of. Seems like Illinois will at least try harder to keep in state talent in state.

Pretty sure Lovie made a hire for this position his last year at Illinois. His intentions were good with the hire but she didn't have many, if any, connections to Illinois high school football.

One day, I took a dump that was about the size of my forearm. Like to have never got it flushed.

I took a pic. My friends and family will never forget that accomplishment.

I’m guessing it will be talked about decades from now. Legendary.
