Decided to start this thread as a catch all for any conference realignment stories that come about.

Virden North Mac heading to the South Central Conference beginning in 2022-23: https://www.sj-r.com/sports/20200826/no ... chool-year

The Panthers have been a member of the Sangamo since 2012. South Central Conference was looking for a replacement after Roxana announced they were leaving for the Cahokia Conference, which is undergoing its own major realignment as well starting in 2022-23, becoming a 3-division 18-team conference. North Mac already has familiarity with South Central Conference schools like Carlinville, Gillespie, Piasa Southwestern, Staunton, Hillsboro, and Litchfield.

South Central also allows North Mac to have a bonafide conference schedule in boys soccer and girls golf which are not sponsored by all of the Sangamo schools.

North Mac's move leaves Sangamo with nine football playing schools. Haven't heard anything definitive about a replacement though there has been some discussion about St. Teresa possibly joining. I have seen some mention one of the WIVC schools though I don't know of any that there would be mutual interest on.

North Mac seems like a good fit for the SCC

In terms of geography absolutely. And it's not as if they were a bad geographic fit in the Sangamo. Heck about 1/2 of the teams in that conference including North Mac (prior to the Virden/Girard consolidation) were in the Prairie State Conference at one time.

QND joins the Big 12 for football only for at least only the spring 2021 football season:

This was announced by Chris Duerr of KHQA-7 Quincy about a month ago, but Macomb has recently accepted a football-only invitation to join the Prairieland for at least next spring's football season only:

I've also thought I've heard that West Hancock is going P-Land for football next season too?

This is correct. https://wgem.com/2020/08/15/macomb-and- ... -for-2021/
The move is permanent for West Hancock. They, along with Illini West and Rushville-Industry, will be in the Prairieland for football only and the West Central for other sports starting in 2021-22.
