The only way 6 wins happens is with at least a 4-1 start to the season. Not impossible, but it's up to them to show it.
That sounds about right. They're really got to stay away from injuries, like the one to Mike Epstein.

Re: Would it be inappropriate to....

The Journal Star prints a lot of papers, including the Pantagraph, Pontiac, Pekin, and others farther away. That's why the deadlines are so early. The Journal Star used to get a later deadline because, well, it was their press. But I imagine they added another paper to print and moved everything up....

Re: The Overblown Carli Lloyd Kick

It's just a novelty. Her name is recognizable right now, so if she does anything interesting, it's going to get big play for click-bait. And, as you noted, she does fit the right category for those with an agenda. This will all be forgotten in a couple weeks.

Manual with 44 ties, Peoria High with 58 ties. 44 & 58!?!?!?  I hate ties in anything. It's like kissing your sister. I don't think there have been any ties in Illinois high school football since the playoffs started in 1974 (and maybe the year-before, as teams got used to the tie-br...

Eureka good, GCMS down from last two years, but still good. Tremont on the upswing. Tri-Valley still good. A lot of unknown quantities otherwise. And Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland gone to play 8-Man football.

Re: IHSA moving to single weekend format for Girls/Boys Basketball beginning in 2021

Still no details on how the games will be structured within the three days, though it is specified there will be the same number of team as in the current State finals. "Each class will continue to have four state final qualifying teams". My hunch is 1A/2A semis on Thursday, 3A/4A semis on Friday, ...

Re: IHSA moving to single weekend format for Girls/Boys Basketball beginning in 2021

Interesting that they only plan on a three-year trial period: 2021-22-23. The girls will play March 4-6, 2021, which is currently the weekend of the Class 3A/4A Girls Basketball State Finals, while the boys tourney will take place March 11-13, 2021. So the 1A/2A girls season will be a week longer an...

Re: 2A State Tournament Thread

Here's what could have been an interesting situation. IHSA is moving to a two-year average for enrollment and Orr's enrollment is 328. IHSA is also moving the cutoff between 1A/2A to 300. In the IHSA's school directory, Orr's enrollment is listed as 275, which means it was a possibility that Orr cou...

However, there is a formal challenge which could delay implementation. Found that out Saturday night at State Tourney.
Don't know anything about that (but assume I'll hear more later), but anything that delays Districts is a good thing.

El Paso-Gridley had just a typical game (Shot 55% but too many late turnovers.) EPG was down 20-11 in the first quarter, but came back to tie 31-31 at halftime when Jack Weber banked in a 35-foot shot at the buzzer. In the third quarter, EPG scored ten straight for a 43-36 lead and with seven minute...

Re: 1A-2A Regional Seedings

Crazy game at Momence. EPG and Seneca combine for 13 three-pointers in the first half and EPG leads 40-26 at intermission. Seneca scored 6 threes in the first quarter, including a 4-point play, for all 19 of their points. Seneca had 11 threes for the game. Then everything went cold and EPG outscored...

Apparently 15 teams withdrew from the Little Okaw Valley, leaving four teams. I think the weirder ones here are the 3 pitcher minimum, along with a permanent move to 26 on the roster, to accommodate an extra pitcher. The roster increase seems to indicate expansion to 32 maybe a longer timetable than previously thought, but with the situations in Tampa Bay and Oakland still s...
