20-21 Mid-Illini

It pains me to think there’s a legit chance we won’t have a Boys basketball season in 20-21. If we do, who’s the favorite to reign the Mid Illini? I’ve heard a few friends say Washington will defend its title in a big way. Thoughts?

Re: Thoughts on Football being moved to the Spring

Well, the basketball Players moving into football should be a head of the game cardio wise. It’s usually the other way around, going from football to basketball. Easier adjustment this time around.

Re: IHSA Football Schedules are up

Should the the MI just play a 7 game conference schedule and then have a conference championship game? I believe that would finish up a week before the May 1 deadline.

Pekin’s Sr class will be decent. Their incoming soph class is the best group I’ve seen at Pekin in a long time.

‘20 MI

I know talking about the ‘20 hs football season may be a futile exercise but here we go. Wondering who the favorite is to win the Mid-Illini. I know my Panthers have very few returning starters. I wanna say two on offense and four on defense. A tough non-conference in Sycamore and Kankakee Sr.

Re: Mid-Illini 2019-20

Panthers will struggle to finish .500 for the season. When the season started I thought they had a legitimate shot at winning the MI. I kept hearing how much they improved in the off-season. Not really seeing it now. Still young, though. With their most consistent shooting guard out for who knows ho...

Re: Mid-Illini 2019-20

Not sure what other MI schools will bring but Washington seems to be pretty close to what we saw last year. Vanderheydt has improved his overall game but turnovers and the inability to handle full court pressure doomed them their last 3 games in the TOC this week. The lack of a true point guard is g...

Re: Week 2 Large School Discussion Thread

Bballnut, I pondered this too. BW was a very skilled and fast team, but they were exhausted by the middle of 3rd quarter. Panthers were able to run through, over and around them. Seems like the necessity of opening up the offense was just what Panthers needed. Some poorly timed penalties by BW helpe...

Re: Week 1 Large School Discussion Thread

Hard to tell where the Washington Panthers are right now after week 1. Sycamore is a really solid team. I did not expect: 1) the team speed of Sycamore (both sides of ball) 2) the Washington defense to play so well (only gave up 10 pts) 3) Panthers offense to be so out of synch and sputter in the re...

Re: 2019 Season

Panthers have a senior class that lost only one game in frosh-soph seasons (that game was against a JV squad that had sr.’s playing for the other team). More talent there than what some remember. Lost a couple kids due to injury and relocation. They just had a ton of talent in the class above them w...

2019 Season

I see Washington has Sycamore scheduled for week 1 (that’s a tough opener) but nobody for Wk 2. Anyone have any insight on possibilities? A recent check on IHSA, had only 2 teams in 5a/6a with openings for wk 2. Calumet City and Norridge.

Re: College Football Week 3

The Illini do not have true speed at WR. They are going to struggle all season no matter who they play. The receivers cannot get separation early in the routes and the OL is not good enough to keep a 4 sec pocket for checkdowns. Running game is decent but if we can’t go vertically, it’s going to be ...

Re: Dunlap@Washington

I hope it doesn’t come down to special teams play. Especially, kickoffs. The few times we didn’t get a touchback, I’ve been unimpressed with Washington’s kick off coverage. It’s not good.

Guessing they will have to take out the first row of parking along the fence. If so, that will mean even less parking once the 12th Man auctioned parking spots are coned off.

Mid Illini Preview

Summer workouts are underway and I know many of us are ready for it to be late August and ready for the season. What does your MI team look like for the upcoming season? Washington-several returning starters from a 5A final 4 team. The OL returns 4 starters. Return Starters QB Fisher, RB Walter, RB ...

Re: Game scores and records

Great comeback by the Panthers in the 4th to send it into overtime. Washington finally plays a team that fouls as much as them and they shoot 25% from the line. It was woeful.

Re: Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament 2017

Just my opinion, but this is the worst level of talent in the PHT in years. Once you get past the kid from Normal West, there’s not much else. The night was topped off by a 24 pt effort from Washington. They scored 6 pts in the second half.

Re: Babcook Field

I've heard they plan to use the same concrete company for both the band room addition and the bleachers. Get both projects up and running together while that company is on site. Initially, I thought there was going to be some donated labor for part of the bleachers renovations. I'm not sure where th...

Re: 2017 ToC

6-9, 6-7, 6-6 and you won’t rebound. Sheez boys. Fouling and not rebounding, bad combination. When was the last time my Panthers started 0-3? There’s a good chance it will be 0-4. We’ve been spoiled over the years. There are kids starting or getting significant playing time that would’ve never seen ...
