I think that's great! It's a great and unique opportunity for him while I think will be great hire for the U of I football program....

I wonder if Pekin will look in house such as Jeremy Crouch (is he still at Pekin - I know he was head coach at Illini Bluffs and then became assistant to Walraven years back) or will the school look outside for an established coach? Since Walraven was an in house hire, I would like to see the school...

Good for him...coaching at varsity can be a real grind! At least he got to fulfill a dream he had to be a varsity coach (I read that when he took the job)

I've been on here off and on for over 20 years and remember BW quite well - even met him at a Pekin/Metamora game. I think he retired and moved to Tennessee. Those were great days on the board when a Washington-Metamora game would garner 200-300 posts before being pulled off because of so much trash...

Also heard racial slurs where shouted after the Dunlap game by Pekin players. Parents were holding back students from trying to fight. Pekin is and has always been a dirty team. East Peoria struggles in a lot of sports, not just football. I would gladly be part of a program that does well in most sports like Dunlap. As a Pekin guy, I would take Dunlap sports program over Pekin any day of the week!

Pekin will beat Dunlap if they play. That program is horribly coached. They have some talent but there is no hustle and they cant rebound Coach has two kids and guess what they both start varsity.
