Re: NFL Week 12

Schedule being reshuffled again. Ravens-Steelers now set to take place Wednesday at 2:40 PM CT (NBC has a contractual agreement to air Christmas in Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night so that's the reason for the earlier start). Steelers-Washington Football team in Week 13 will now be played next...

Re: Dictator Pritzker Holding Illinois Hostage!

Contact tracing is showing very few individuals are coming in contact with the virus through any sort of school function, sports or otherwise. Which is the point. Our governor keeps saying his following the science, the numbers are what they are, people aren't following the rules, etc. Yet he, and ...

Re: Dictator Pritzker Holding Illinois Hostage!

Michigan started their football playoffs but cancelled remainder of season(playoffs) effective yesterday  All winter sports also suspended. Wait...so you mean it wasn't a good idea to play these high contact sports in the middle of a pandemic? Who knew? Show me the data that suggests that hi...

Re: NASCAR 2020

Chase Elliott wins today's race at Phoenix and clinches the Cup Series Championship. At 24 years old, he becomes the third youngest driver to do so, bested only by Bill Rexford in 1950 and Jeff Gordon in 1995. Changing of the guard last night? Two champions (Johnson, Kenseth) and one colorful drive...

Re: NASCAR 2020

Fascinating and exciting race yesterday on a track I love! However, I have a question about why NASCAR even has "teams." I kept waiting for Bowyer to slow down and let Harvick (and Kyle Busch I suppose) to pass him. Harvick needed one more point to advance. Instead, Harvick has to try a desperate m...

Re: NASCAR 2020

Kyle Larson will drive for Hendricks in the #5. Sponsorship to be named later, but I suspect we will see Hendricks name on the hood of the car most of the season. The #88 will not be driven next year as the #5 is basically replacing it with Bowman moving to the #48.

Re: IHSA moves Winter Sports Decision to October 28

I believe the state superintendent has told schools to follow the governor's decision. This will be ending up in court is my guess. Here is an article about the letter from the state superintendent: https://www.mahometdaily.com/state-superintendent-urges-districts-to-prioritize-safety-after-ihsa-de...

Re: Possible state series changes coming to cross country

Agreed would rather they ran whole teams based on regional finish places. Might be preferable, but still not a huge fan given the disparity in quality among regionals. For example, the fifth place team at the Metamora regional is better than the winner of the Chicago (Agricultural Sciences) regiona...

Re: Possible state series changes coming to cross country

I think due to Covid. Sectionals are running three flights so need to keep the number of runners down. This is what they are doing at Elmwood, as far as I know: 10:00am- Girls Flight 1- the first 13 qualifiers from each Regional 10:40am- Girls Flight 2- qualifiers 14-26 from each Regional 11:20am- ...

Re: Possible state series changes coming to cross country

The changes passed. Cross country in 2020 will look somewhat different than in the past. Looks like 4 sectionals but still only 5 teams from each regional advanced to sectional. Did this change due to COVID or was that the final plan? I think due to Covid. Sectionals are running three flights so ne...

Re: NASCAR 2020

Seats are filling fast! Chase Briscoe to take over the 14. Really happy for him! I've probably watched as much Xfinity as Cup this year. Sounds like Eric Jones will take the 43 seat. No official announcement yet, but all signs indicate that's where he will end up. Michael Jordan/Denny Hamlin team ap...

Re: MLB Postseason 2020

I think that Hinch is absolutely the best choice for the White Sox. He admittedly knew about the “cheating” but honestly how was he supposed to stop it? And let’s be real, there were a lot teams doing the same, just not as well as the Astros. If other teams were doing it but didn't get caught, mayb...

Clint Bowyer announced his retirement from NASCAR effective at the end of the season and he will join the NASCAR on FOX booth starting next year: https://twitter.com/ClintBowyer/status/1314341481814122496 As many have said about this announcement, I'm sad and happy. Re: Congrats to Pekin Boys Golf...

The Dragon boys golf team won MI league tournament this past weekend to cap off unbeaten season. Dragons have been very impressive in duels and tournaments. Yeah, I know, it's hard to get excited about high school golf, but it's all I got right now :) :( Cross country? Both Pekin teams are having s...

One empty seat (or presumed empty seat since Kenseth has said he's not returning next season) has been filled. Ross Chastain to drive the 42 next season: https://www.yahoo.com/autos/ross-chastain-drive-chip-ganassi-113031222.html Interesting choice. He certainly has done enough to prove he deserves ...

Re: Dictator Pritzker Holding Illinois Hostage!

Bluejay, I won't get into the numbers yet, but shouldn't the IHSA schools have a say in this? Shouldn't maybe the schools themselves vote on this? IN fact, last week the IHSA sent a letter asking the governor to hand control of high school sports BACK to the IHSA. He REFUSED. Hence why I used word ...

The 42 and 48 are open seats at this point, that we know of for sure. Others will open. And now the 43 seat opens up (Erik Jones?). With the playoffs having begun,...

Re: NASCAR 2020

The end of that race was insane. There for a little while it almost looked like Bubba Wallace had a chance to win the race late. I did like Newman's reaction to Reddick causing the big one late. Agreed on Newman, but I'll give Reddick credit for simply saying I was dumb and didn't get the move made...

Re: NASCAR 2020

First time for all the drivers racing on the road course at Daytona. Some drivers are better at driving on road courses than others. Today's finish is about where he usually finishes on road courses based on how he did the past couple years at Watkins Glen and Sonoma. He was actually in the Top 10 ...
