Re: Geneseo and Sterling to WB6?

Beware, If you beat all the team in conference the first year they will want to get rid of you. I don't think long term the Peoria teams would have pulled that off consistently. Timing was such that the WB6 teams were down during that timeframe. Always been a head scratcher for me to understand why...

1998 Rockridge and Aledo played for the 2A Championship. Both members of the Olympic Conference. RR won regular season and Aledo wins State Championship. Macomb also made it to the Semifinals in 3A that year.

Minimum number of practices are only required by the IHSA for football. Individual coaches may have some guidelines for their program.

I cannot or will not attempt to make a list and I commend you ...

Re: UK Basketball

Why? Don't most made baskets of this nature come from inadvertent tip-ins or breakaway layups? I don't believe I have ever seen anyone pullup and launch a three at the wrong basket. But i believe you if you say so.

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

From the IHSA information Bismark would be the #2 seed in a quadrant. Rockridge and Cerro Gordo would be the # 1 in halves and a computer draw would determine #1 in a 1-32 bracket. W-L Enrollment Opponents record Cerro Gordo [C.G.-Bement Coop] 9-0 345.00 37-44 Taylor Ridge (Rockridge) 9-0 381.00 37-...

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

Yes different teams from last year, but still same conference. Weeks 1-9 you try to beat your conference. Weeks 10-14 you cheer for your conference teams. People talk about the LTC being week, but I think MC, SC and AW have proved that good football is played in the conference. Unfortunately, you e...

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

So if I understand correctly, you don't like the current system. But look at the map. http://www.ihsa.org/data/fb/2a.jpg The only way around it is to mandate halves and play 1-16, 2-15, etc... That is fine and i agree with that entirely. But this does still not guarantee the two best teams will not ...

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

Ok, they followed the rules and you don't like it? It is the system that is used and has been used. I do not agree with everything that is done by the IHSA, but to say that they place certain teams against each other in early round games to make more money is entirely baseless. To make such a statem...

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

So those who don't think its about money, have the numbers changed your minds? I remember the IHSA saying a lot of coaches were in favor of quads, but I never heard/read of a local coach/admin saying they were. It comes down to the IHSA being greedy and crowning 8 champions, doesn't matter who. i a...

Re: 2A Playoff Discussion

It is pretty cut and dry. Grouping and Seeding the Brackets Once the 32 teams in a particular class are determined, they are grouped manually by the IHSA Office. Each class is grouped into two halves of 16 teams based on the general location of the schools within that class. Then, within each half, ...

I'm confused, on the day you posted this comment Sherrard was not ranked, NCC was not #2, yet you use Orion's getting votes from the same poll.

I believe that RR has only played 1 team that is ranked. The others two teams have recieved votes, but are not ranked. RR is having a great season so far. In '98 they beat Aledo pretty bad in the regular season yet we all know how the last game of the season ended up. So I guess what I am saying is ...

Re: Bill O'Brien NFL Gig or Penn State?

Not all college coaches fail at the next level. Vermeil (UCLA) , Coughlin (BC), Ewbank (Wash. U) Walsh (Stanford), Seifert (Cornell),Johnson (OK State, Miami), and Switzer (OK) have all won Super Bowls. Pete Carroll (USC) has done ok with Seattle as well. John Robinson (USC) wasn't too terrible with...
