Re: Tokyo 2020 thread

I won't pass judgement on Biles as there is no way to know whether the situation was a mental health crisis, or her inability to overcome adversity or face competitive shortfalls. As a human, she deserves all of the space and grace that she wants or needs, but as a multi-million dollar endorsement ...

Re: Tokyo 2020 thread

Biles is out of the all around competition as well now. I will say this, she didn’t look right during the qualification stage at all. My initial reaction yesterday was that she was quitting on her team. But I think somebody else described it perfectly, she got the yips. With the things she is doing,...

Re: TAS and Squirrel Re-Construct DI

The B12 conference was never going to last with such a power/money imbalance between UT and the other schools. I'm more of an SEC conference football fan having attended many Razorback and Gamecock games but I also had season tickets for the longhorns for four years through 2020 while my daughter w...

So assuming this really happens, would these be the divisions: East: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt West: Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Missouri Geographically that makes sense and it puts 4 top team...

Re: TAS and Squirrel Re-Construct DI

The B1G began to forsake academics when it admitted Nebraska. Nebraska was a member of the AAU when they were accepted and lost their status later. Right, but they were always a fraud. Anyone with more than peanuts for brains knew that. Apparently the AAU is useless then because they have peanuts f...

Re: TAS and Squirrel Re-Construct DI

Wasn't part of the argument against Louisville coming into the B1G academics? Or was it more that it wouldn't really add any TV markets? It’s academic. Same issue with Cincinnati. I am moving to Louisville in a week so I would love them to go to the Big Ten but it will never happen. Again, none of ...

Re: TAS and Squirrel Re-Construct DI

I think what the BIG really does, is get out in front of the ACC members - sell them that the long game here is that the SEC will continue to outmarket the hell out of the Southern ACC area, destablize the entire ACC conference. Go after Clemson & Georgia Tech and/or Virginia and some of the NC...

Happy for Giannis. What a validation for him, and he’s just so likable that even if you aren’t a fan of Milwaukee, you can easily invest a little emotion into their success. Yes absolutely. He is a good dude and has had a lot of really likable press moments lately. I agree. He seems like a genuine ...

Re: Tokyo 2020 thread

It does matter on the women’s side. That is changing some however. But the women are paid worse because the world doesn’t care. And America really doesn’t care either. America gets more excited about the men getting out of the group stage than the women winning it all. I don’t think that’s true at ...

Worldwide yes - in the United States? Probably not. Well if we are talking soccer, the world is what matters. Ronaldo doesn’t get paid ridiculous money because of American soccer fans. A lot of America First! patriot types cheering for a US National Team to lose sure is interesting. The USWNT has been dominant forever. Other countries have been catching up. It was going to happen. Making it about anything else is ridiculous but not surprising. I’m not actively cheering against th...

Re: Tokyo 2020 thread

Good wake up call. Also, I wonder if there is a good mix between the old guard and the up and coming players. It just looks like practically the same team that won the last WC. I also wonder if the time difference affected the players. Sweden is too good of a team to not be playing at your best. Pe...

Re: Tokyo 2020 thread

USWNT lose their opening match 3:0 to Sweden. It was also announced that Brisbane, Australia will host the 2032 Summer Olympics. Due to new guidelines in the selection process, they were the only bid that met the updated requirements, and therefore ran uncontested. Good wake up call. Also, I wonder...

Re: Baseball's Problem

So, with your last statement about Kellerman you are saying it's because he's black. "I'm not saying, I'm just saying." The situation and argument is way more nuanced than that involving race, gender, and even class. If Smith, had said what I stated about a black player vs an Asian player...

Where did I say any of what Smith said is ok? Stephen A Smith is paid and employed to give “hot takes”. Many of them are dumb. Some are offensive. But that’s kinda what he does. That’s his whole bit - right or wrong. You didn't flat out say it was okay, but you sure made excuses for him being a rac...

Re: Baseball's Problem

Saw a follow up on this that the Atlantic League strike zone is shorter but wider. Someone did the math and everything and although it BARELY nicked the zone, as the zone is defined by the Atlantic League this was technically a strike. Still no worse than Angel Hernandez or CB Bucknor…. That is the...
